The past profoundly influences every nation’s present and future. There are no traces today of even catastrophic events like nuclear attacks, tsunami or the most recent covid pandemic. But memories linger on in the collective consciousness of the affected nation for generations. So too with Norway, whose approach to defense is anchored in a pivotal historical experience.
